POWER

(DAY 3 of 7) James Martinez
"I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong." - Ephesians 3:16–17 NLT

Think

In this passage, we hear Paul’s heartfelt prayer for the church in Ephesus. It is one that still speaks powerfully to us today. He points to two vital truths we desperately need: inner strength and Christ making His home in our hearts.
So often, the greatest battles we fight happen on the inside. Within our thoughts and emotions. Stress, conflict, and trials can leave us weary and weak. That’s why we need a strength beyond our own willpower. True inner strength comes from God’s Spirit, who empowers us in ways human effort never can.
Paul also describes Jesus making His home in our hearts. A home is different from a hotel, it’s not temporary or transactional. A home is personal, permanent, and filled with presence. Jesus isn’t looking for a quick visit; He wants to dwell with us daily, shaping our attitudes, guiding our decisions, and filling us with His peace.

Act

Today, pause and invite the Holy Spirit to empower you for whatever lies ahead. Instead of saying, “I can’t handle this,” declare, “His Spirit strengthens me.” Picture your heart as a home. Are there rooms you’ve kept locked away from Jesus? Are there places where trust has been difficult? Open every door and welcome Him fully in.
The result is what Paul promises: “Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” Choose to rest in His love. Reflect on the specific ways He has cared for you. The more you root yourself in His love, the deeper your strength will grow.

Pray

Father, thank you for empowering me through your spirit. I invite Christ to make His home in every part of my heart. Help my roots grow deep in your love so I can stand steady no matter what comes my way. Teach me to lean on your strength, trust your presence, and remain grounded in your unfailing love. Amen.
