POWER

(DAY 6 of 7) Josh Rene
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
 They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
 They shall run and not be weary,
 They shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

Think

Isn’t waiting one of the hardest things to do? Especially in a world that glorifies instant results. Just Google it. Just Door Dash it. We literally have an app called Instacart. We want answers now, provision now, breakthroughs now, direction now. But Isaiah reminds us that real strength doesn’t come from striving and “making it happen”; it comes from waiting on the Lord.
The word “wait” here doesn’t mean doing nothing. Waiting is a verb. It means actively trusting—He calls us to wait…ON HIM! He’s the solution, he’s the one we need, he is the provider and sustainer of our souls! So, we actively trust in God’s timing, rest in His promises, and believe that he is working and moving even when I don’t see it right away. The word "wait” is also NOT a punishment. You see, God not only knows exactly what I need…he also knows WHEN I need it. My 9 yr old loves to sit in the driver’s seat when the car is parked and touch all the buttons and lights and pretend that she is driving. Now how irresponsible and dangerous would it be for me to just toss her the keys and say, “Here you go kiddo, go take it for a spin!?” Why? Because she’s not ready to drive…yet. There will be a day when she can, but for now, she has to wait for those keys until she grows and matures. I’m not withholding those keys to be mean or unkind, I’m withholding to protect. When God has us wait, it’s always for our good. But here’s the truth, I do look forward (with some dread admittedly) to handing her the keys one day and seeing her drive off empowered and trusted to handle that gift and responsibility. But here’s the best part about waiting on God; that as we do, our strength grows. Resilience and spiritual stamina develops. We learn to then run in this life of faith and “not grow weary”, we walk and “do not faint!”
Maybe you’re reading this and need some strength to get through a difficult season or situation. Maybe you’ve been waiting for an answer, a healing, or a breakthrough. Know this, God sees you! He hasn’t forgotten you. Here this loud and clear in your spirit; Waiting on God is never wasted time. While you wait, He’s working in your heart, shaping your character, and renewing your strength for what’s ahead.

Act

Today, pause and ask yourself: Am I waiting on the Lord—or just waiting for results or my situation to change? Spend some time in silence before God. Wait on Him. Don’t rush to speak—just rest in His presence. Release your anxiety, your timeline, your need to control, and invite Him to renew your strength.
If you’re feeling weary, step away from distractions and take five to ten quiet minutes to take a few deep breathes and say out loud, “Lord, I trust You.” Write down what you’re waiting for—and beside it, write: “God is always working for my good.” Let that truth lighten the burden of waiting as your strength is renewed in Him today.

Pray

Father, thank you for being my strength when I am weak. Teach me to wait on you with trust and expectation, not frustration. Renew my heart, my mind, and my energy as I rest in your presence. Help me to soar on the wind of your Holy Spirit, to run when you lead me, and to walk faithfully even when it’s hard. I surrender my timeline to you, knowing that your timing is perfect. I surrender my anxiety and my worries to you. You are my strength and hope. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
