POWER

(DAY 7 of 7) Kristen Hubers
“He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV

Think

When God told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you,” He was giving him more than comfort — He was giving him a promise. In verses 7–8, Paul had pleaded for the thorn to be removed, yet God responded with something greater: the assurance that His grace would meet Paul in every moment of weakness.
The word sufficient here comes from the Greek word arkei, which means “to be enough, to satisfy, to defend.” God’s grace is not partial or fragile; it is complete, whole, and perfectly fitted for every situation we face. It doesn’t need backup. It doesn’t fall short. It. Is. Enough.
Think of the synonyms: enough, adequate, sustaining, all-sufficient, satisfying. When God says, “My grace is sufficient,” He’s saying:
  • “My grace is more than capable of carrying you.”
  • “My grace is fully adequate to cover your lack.”
  • “My grace is all you need, right here, right now.”
Grace doesn’t always remove the difficulty. Instead, it adds the strength to endure it. And here’s the paradox: God’s power shines most clearly not when we look strong, but when we admit we aren’t. Our lack becomes the platform for His strength. Our weakness becomes the place where His power rests.
Paul came to realize that God’s provision isn’t about subtracting weakness but about adding grace. The thorn may stay, but so does the unshakable promise that His grace will never run out.

Act

Today, take a moment to identify one area of weakness in your life — a place where you feel stretched, overwhelmed, or unable to measure up. Instead of hiding it or powering through on your own, offer it to God as an invitation for His power to rest on you.

Pray

Lord, thank You that Your grace is enough for every weakness I face. Help me to stop striving in my own strength and instead rest in Your power that is made perfect in my weakness. Teach me to delight in Your sufficiency today and trust that You are strong where I am not.
